An annual survey says Toyota tops the car brands in U.S. consumer perception.
Unchanged from last year, Ford, Honda, Chevrolet, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo rounded out the top six.
The survey comes less than a month after the Detroit auto show, during which the company showed off its latest vehicles and concept cars.
Based on how consumers perceive each brand in seven categories(quality, safety, value, performance, design, technology and green attributes), each of the top 10 saw perception scores rise in the survey.

Japan’s third-biggest auto maker mistakenly released its quarterly results several hours ahead of schedule on its website and this was right in the middle of the trading session. California is the nation’s biggest car market. It’s also the biggest market for alternative fuel cars, including hybrids, plug-in cars, diesels and natural gas cars.
The Toyota Prius is the best-selling car in California. According to data from Experian Automotive Combined, the Prius, Prius V, Prius C and Prius Plug-in have outsold every other passenger vehicle sold in the Golden State so far this year. Read the rest of this entry
