BMW announced new BMW 6-series features, that include advanced voice-recognition system that can take dictation from the driver and send out an e-mail or text.
BMW noted it’s simplified voice commands and control over most cabin tech features. The new system will let drivers activate a dictation mode, having the cartranscribe e-mails and text messages. The car reads out the resulting text and includes voice controls for making simple edits. The driver can send the text to anyone in her paired phone’s contact list through e-mail or text message. The Audi SQ5 may not have a direct competitor from BMW, but Alpina has unveiled the XD3 Biturbo – a tuning kit that seems to be a direct response to Audi’s model – at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

The “Whatta Drag” , a car that initially started as a toy, was unveiled in 1998. Thanks to the amazing imagination of Bruce Weiner, the Isetta Whatta Drag became a reality in 2005. As you could imagine, this cool Whatta Drag only keeps the body shell from an original 1959 BMW Isetta, because everything else is pretty much new.
GM is going to show its redesigned Cadillac CTS car at NY auto show next month. The new Cadillac CTS luxury mid-sized sedan is more different than the ATS. Cadillac officials said that the new Cadillac CTS will more directly take on BMW’s popular 5-Series car.
A Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell said that Cadillac also will introduce a coupe version of the ATS next year. Executives previously said a new version of the Escalade sport utility vehicle and the plug-in electric ELR coupe would hit dealers in early 2014. Read the rest of this entry
The new hatchback version of the popular executive model BMW 3 Series GT has been revealed.
BMW says the car will offer more space for rear passengers, an elevated driving position and the improved practicality that comes with a hatchback opening.
The 3 SeriesGT is 200mm longer and 81mm taller than a 3 Series Touring, and its wheelbase grows by 110mm. The luggage capacity is 520 litres – around 25 litres more than the 3 Series Touring’s load space. It’s also the same capacity as the 5 Series saloon, a vehicle that’s equally likely to be on the 3 GT buyer’s shortlist. Read the rest of this entry
Ford, Mercedes, and Renault-Nissan announced on Jan. 28 they would produce fuel cell vehicles in 2017.
The three companies have been working on the technology, and some have demonstrated prototype vehicles. Mercedes-Benz has been testing multiple generations of their F-Cell fuel cell vehicle.
The Toyota-BMW agreement covers the united development of a fuel cell stack, hydrogen tank, and electric motor for a car. They will also work on new lithium-air battery technology, aiming to increase the energy density of electric vehicle batteries. Read the rest of this entry
Toyota Motor Corp. and BMW are signing an agreement to develop a sports car platform, lithium-air batteries and new lightweight materials. The automakers aim to jointly develop a fuel cell system for vehicles by 2020.
The companies will embark on a feasibility study to define a joint platform concept for a mid-sized sports vehicle, aiming to complete the study by the end of 2013.
Toyota and BMW will also team up to develop a new generation of batteries with higher energy density than the lithium ion batteries currently being used in hybrid and electric cars. They cited lithium-air batteries as the new chemistry to be explored.
