Chrysler Group recalled 2013 Dodge Challengers equipped with V-6 engines, and told the owners not to drive them.
The recall affects only 4,459 Challengers because of a wire harness that can overheat and lead to fires. Chrysler says it is a aware of seven incidents, none of which caused injuries.
Eric Mayne, Chrysler spokesman, says the problem is due to a single batch of misconfigured electrical components. He refused to specify the particular part, not necessarily the wiring harness, at the heart of the problem. Chrysler has revealed its redesigned 2014 Jeep Cherokee SUV ahead of its global debut at the upcoming New York International Auto Show to be held during 29 March to 07 April 2013 in the US.
The new redesigned vehicle is expected to be powered by a 3.2L V-6 engine, based on the automaker’s 3.6L Pentastar engine. The coming Cherokee SUV is claimed to come with improved fuel economy of about more than 45% compared to the outgoing model. It will be built at the Chrysler Group’s Toledo Assembly Plant in Toledo, Ohio, which is currently being retooled since August 2012 for the production of the Liberty replacement.
