Cadillac revealed its new engine, used for the 2014 CTS sedan. The engine is a twin-turbo V-6 producing 420 hp and 430 pound-foot of torque. Acc. to General Motors, this is the most power dense six-cylinder engine in the segment producing 118 hp per liter.
The V-6 will also be the first twin turbo engine for Cadillac and the first be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It uses a smaller pair of turbochargers combined with an efficient charge air cooler to reduce turbo lag and provide immediate power delivery. GM is going to show its redesigned Cadillac CTS car at NY auto show next month. The new Cadillac CTS luxury mid-sized sedan is more different than the ATS. Cadillac officials said that the new Cadillac CTS will more directly take on BMW’s popular 5-Series car.
A Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell said that Cadillac also will introduce a coupe version of the ATS next year. Executives previously said a new version of the Escalade sport utility vehicle and the plug-in electric ELR coupe would hit dealers in early 2014. Read the rest of this entry
Owned by General Motors, Cadillac is America’s most prestigious domestic luxury automaker. For most of its existence, the company was known exclusively for its cushy, senior-friendly sedans, but in more recent years the automaker has revised and expanded its lineup in a successful effort to attract a new, younger generation of clientele.
